MARRIAGE COUNSELLING
RELATIONSHIP COUNSELLING
COUPLES COUNSELLING
Finchley N3

You might feel stuck because you have tried and tried to make your marriage work. Getting through to your partner seems hopeless, some of you have even tried marriage counselling and that hasn’t worked either. You don’t want to stay in a failing marriage, but breaking up your family feels wrong too.

It’s natural for a person in a relationship to feel that their love for their partner has died for good. Most of the time the love is only asleep because you have detached yourself emotionally to protect yourselves. Creating an opportunity for a couple to learn how to reattach is key to getting the relationship back on track.

WHAT IS COUPLES COUNSELLING?

The main approach of couples counselling is based on a clear plan created to take your relationship from where you are to where you want to be.  This perspective recognises different way of coping with problems that is noticable between men and women.

During the process, a couple gets multiple opportunities to develop/learn the solutions that are the most productive for both of you. I work with a couple as a whole, considering your different needs and different perceptions of fairness.

Couple counselling is usually a starting point where you can learn about each other's needs and the way you are happy to fulfil them. You learn tools that will allow you to communicate effectively and respectfully.

Once you gain more confidence in your relationship, you might go away to try all your newly acquired techniques to make your relationship more fulfilling and respectful.

As new challenges arise in your stronger relationship, you might want to re-visit counselling in order to fine-tune the ways you relate to each other.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT IN COUNSELLING?

You can expect to be supported without criticism or judgement.  You might want to talk about your experiences and try to make sense of them.  It's a safe space in which you can express your difficult feelings and you can learn to manage them in a helpful way.

Initailly, I will meet each one of you separately to learn about you as individuals, which takes one or two sessions for each partner.  After this initial introduction I will start working with both of you as a couple, where you will be able to reflect, learn and consider all available options.

I’m a Contemporary Psychotherapist, with a compassionate and down to earth approach.
